But if I don’t remind him...
It’s 7:12 am.
His door is still closed.
You know he’s going to be late.
And you’ve been trying to stop that from happening.
“You need to leave! Now!”
“I KNOW, MOM!”
A few minutes later, he rushes out the door.
And you think:
See? If I hadn’t said something, he would’ve been late.
Because you were right.
He was going to be late.
And you fixed it.
Which makes it even harder not to remind him tomorrow.
Meanwhile, more and more of what he hears from you in the morning is:
“Are you up?”
“Are you getting ready?”
“You need to leave.”
“You’re going to be late.”
He’s annoyed that you keep reminding him.
You’re annoyed that you have to.
And somehow, this is how you start the day together.
But as frustrating as it is, not reminding him still feels worse.
Because what kind of mom knows he’s going to be late and doesn’t say anything?
Which leaves you with a pretty reasonable question:
So what am I actually supposed to do tomorrow morning?
I can’t just say nothing.
That’s exactly what we can start to figure out together on a Parenting Breakthrough Call.
We’ll look at what’s actually happening in your house and decide what you can try tomorrow morning instead.
So you’re not constantly wondering if you’re doing too much—or not enough.
